A Letter From The 24th Century

Bhavyanshi, Grade IX, GD Goenka Public School Dharamshala
I write to you from the 24th century,
From a world advanced, yet incomplete.
Our cities shine with glass and light,
But something precious is missing from sight.

In history books we learn today,
Of forests that once stretched far away,
Of wildlife roaming free on land,
Protected once by human hand.

My teacher shows us pictures bright-
Tigers, elephants, birds in flight.
We study them like legends old,
Like fading stories often told.

The rivers flow, the machines obey,
Yet no wild footsteps cross your way.
No morning songs, no jungle call,
Only silent museums stand tall.

Did you forget, or did you delay?
The promise to conserve before it slipped away?
You had the chance, you had the power,
To save the forests in that hour.

If time could turn back and send this plea,
I’d ask you to protect what is to be-
Conserve the wildlife, guard the land,
So that the future lies in your hand.
