Warm welcome accorded to Governor (Designate) Kavinder Gupta in Shimla

Shimla : Governor (designate) Kavinder Gupta and his wife Bindu Gupta were accorded a warm and enthusiastic reception on their arrival in Shimla on Monday evening. Shri Gupta is scheduled to take oath as the 30th Governor of Himachal Pradesh on 10 March 2026 at 11:45 a.m.

Chief Minister Sukhvinder Singh Sukhu, Speaker of the Himachal Pradesh Vidhan Sabha Kuldeep Singh Pathania, Deputy Chief Minister Mukesh Agnihotri, former Chief Minister and Leader of Opposition Jai Ram Thakur, Health and Family Welfare Minister Dr. (Col.) Dhani Ram Shandil, Political Advisor to the Chief Minister Sunil Sharma, MLAs, Chief Secretary Sanjay Gupta, Director General of Police Ashok Tiwari, Vice-Chancellors of universities, senior civil and police officers of the State Government and other prominent citizens welcomed the Governor (designate) at Lok Bhavan.
The Chief Minister honoured the Governor (Designate) and his wife Bindu Gupta by presenting Himachali cap, shawl and memento on the occasion.
Interacting with media persons on the occasion, Gupta said that he would work for the welfare and progress of Himachal Pradesh by taking all sections of society along. “We will move forward collectively for the betterment of Himachal Pradesh. Perhaps I am the first person to receive such a promotion within seven months. Serving as Governor is both a great responsibility and a challenge and I will strive to fulfil it with dedication,” he said.
The reception reflected the warmth and goodwill extended by the people and leadership of the State as they welcomed the Governor (designate) ahead of his swearing-in ceremony.
